2005 Retro Days 21-30

Made it a 10-day SIM to make up for our "lost" day yesterday...

Atlantic

The Orlando Magic continue to lead the division despite dropping its last 2 games vs division rival, the Heat, and the Bulls.  Tony Parker has been leading the charge for the Magic with his 29.8 ppg, 2nd best in the league.

The battle for the Atlantic is shaping up to be another dog fight among 4 teams as the Heat, Bullets, and the Celtics are crowding Orlando for the top spot.  Miami has strung up 3 straight wins without its starting SG, Bonzi Wells, while the Bullets have been hot as of late, winning 7 out of their last 10 games.

Central

The defending champs, the Bucks, is still at the helm of the Central with a 14-10 record, but only holds a half game lead over tough rival, the Pacers (8-5).  A key injury has hit Milwaukee, with Stephen Jackson, the team's 6th man, out for 34 days due to hernia.

Last year's division doormat, the Cleveland Cavaliers, is once again showing the right stuff early in the season, finding themselves only a game behind the Bucks.  Keying the Cavaliers strong performance have been Harris, Z-Bo, and Josh Howard, compiling a total average output of 59.5 ppg.

Midwest

In what promises to be a banner year for Dallas, the Mavericks, the previous season's last placer in the Midwest, continue their solid showing by topping the division with a 12-7 record.  Jon Davis is as prolific as ever, leading the league in ppg with 30.9 a contest while pulling down a career best 12.6 rpg. Jason Kidd mans the Mavs offense with his 2nd best 10.1 apg.

The resurgent San Antonio Spurs are breathing down the Mavericks' collective necks at 2nd place.  The Spurs are 7 of 10 lately and may well overtake the Mavericks for the top spot in the Midwest.

Pacific

After a horrendous Week 5, the Blazers went onn a tear the following week, winning 5 straight so far to put them atop the Pacific.  A full game ahead of the equally powerful and versatile Sonics, the Blazers practically obliterated the opposition by an average winning margin of 20.8 during the run.

The Sonics, Warriors, and Kings though are keeping in step with Portland, particularly the Kings which have strung up 4 straight wins to put them back in the hunt for the Division Title.
