The Mile High Rumor Mill: Nuggets for sale
DENVER, CO. -- Reports have started to come out in the open that Kroenke Sports Enterprises, owners of the Denver Nuggets, are out to sell half of their stake of their NBA team to another major investor.
Kroenke Sports owner and sports mogul Stan Kroenke could not be reached for comment but a source close to executive management said in a meeting with the board of directors, the topic of a possible partnership with another company or person is all but in the air.
"It has been discussed but still have to be voted upon," the source said. "I don't think the voting will be a problem. What matters more is that if indeed Kroenke Sports will put the team for sale, meaning half of its ownership, everything should be black and white."
Very few parties, however, when they got wind of the news, have started sending feelers to Kroenke, including real estate and research businessman Lex Luthor of Luthor Corp., Oliver Queen of Queen Enterprises, and Manny V. Pangilinan of Smart Communications and Philipppine Long Distance Telecommunications (PLDT), two telco giants in the Philippines.
"I won't have to make comments on their interests but I personally have done my research on these potential investors and partners and from what I can say is that they mean serious business with their own businesses," the source said.
